Chris lives in Hailsham with Jackie, who he has been married to for almost 40 years.
He is a Plasterer by trade and works in partnership with his son Vince. In the past he also served nearly 25 years in the Navel reserve, as a Chief Petty Officer in Gunnery and mine warfare. His nickname was Daisy!
His love of bikes started at a young age when he bought his first bike, a 50cc Itom Compezitione. Apparently, it went like “sh*t through a goose”. After that it was a 1953 Plunger frame BSA Goldflash 650 with Child/adult Watsonian sidecar.
Then after passing his test he got a 650 swinging arm Goldflash, that too went very quick.
At about the same time he had a 196 DMW Villiers which he used as a hack bike, and an Le Velocette. (Noddy bike).
After that it was a Plunger BBSA 650 with a Steib sidecar.
Then there was a break from motorcycling for a while, until Chris bought a Yamaha RD350LC.
He currently rides a Ducati 748 (red), which he intends to pass on to his daughter Loraine, when he can no longer get his leg over.
Chris started to build his own sidecar outfit when he was 17, a Norton 600 Dominator in a Douglas torsion bar frame with a Watsonian racing platform, but it had to take a back seat when he married Jackie and they started a family.
It stayed in the shed until this year, when he became mechanic for Andy and Loraine. He has since moved it into the garage and is now rebuilding it, with hopes of racing it in the future.
